Acceptability, Useability, and Initial Efficacy of an Adolescent Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention Intervention
Study Description
Students: Hi! We’re inviting Arkansas 8th graders to join a study testing a new game-based prevention program.
You will:
- Complete questions to make sure you are eligible for the study and meet with research staff with your parent or caregiver to learn more about and volunteer for the study.
- Fill out a survey about what you know about prescription drug misuse
- Play a new game
- Fill out a survey about your reactions to the game and what you learned about prescription drug misuse
- Join an online group discussion with up to 10 other students in the study to talk about your reactions to the game
You’ll receive a $100 ClinCard after the focus group (W-9 required).

Caregivers: Hi! We’re inviting Arkansas caregivers of 8th graders to join a research study testing a new game-based prevention program.
You’ll complete:
- Answer questions to make sure you are qualified and meet with study staff to go over the research study and answer any questions you have
- Fill out a survey about talking with your child about avoiding prescription drug misuse
- Watch a series of short educational videos (as part of the intervention)
- Fill out a survey about your reactions to the videos, and about talking with your child about avoiding prescription drug misuse
- Join an online group discussion with up to 10 other caregivers of 8th grade students to talk about your reactions to the program
You will receive a $100 ClinCard after completing the focus group (W-9 required).

Study Eligibility
- Caregivers: Are a parent or legal guardian of an 8th student at a public or private school in Arkansas; have access to a smartphone/tablet/computer with text/email.
- Students: 8th grade students at a public or private school in Arkansas; Have home access to a ChromeBook.
