The Carolyn & Gerald Hamara Rehabilitation Center provides the highest level of family-centered, evidence-based care to our clients and their families. We evaluate and treat inpatients and outpatients with functional limitations to promote maximum independence and quality of life. Our goal is to collaborate with the patients, their families and physicians to establish appropriate, individualized treatment plans to achieve desired outcomes for each client. The Department of Rehabilitation at Arkansas Children's Hospital houses Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Orthotics/Prosthetics (O&P), and the therapy pool.

The Arkansas Children's Hospital Department of Rehabilitation has been providing care to the children of Arkansas since 1947, when the state's first Physical Therapy department was created. A few years later, the hospital added an Occupational Therapy department to address the growing needs of the state. In 1985, ground was broken on the "Gerald F. Hamra Rehabilitation Center" and the department's unique therapy pool.

Today, the department is staffed by a team of 25 Physical Therapists, 19 Occupational Therapists, Orthotists, Therapy Techs and Staff who share a common goal of helping all of our patients achieve their maximum potential and quality of life.
