A peripheral smear review is a blood test used to look for abnormalities in the number and shape of blood cells. This helps doctors diagnose certain blood disorders and other conditions. Irregularities in the red blood cells can affect how oxygen is delivered throughout the body by the blood. These abnormalities can be caused by mineral or vitamin deficiency or an inherited medical condition.
