Kidney Clinic

The Kidney Clinic at Arkansas Children’s treats children and young adults up to age 21 with kidney disease. Our multidisciplinary team of experts includes nephrologists, clinical nurse specialists, social workers, kidney transplant coordinators, pharmacists, and dieticians. We work in partnership with your family to provide exceptional care and help each child reach the best physical, social and emotional health possible.

Comprehensive medical consultations and evaluations are available for prenatal counseling, initial diagnosis, kidney replacement therapy (e.g., dialysis and kidney transplantation), and the transition to adult care. We have multidisciplinary clinics with Urology for the management of complex kidney/bladder disorders (UroNeph Clinic) and kidney stones (Kidney Stone Clinic) and Rheumatology for the management of children with lupus (Vasculitis Clinic). We also provide 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) for evaluating and managing children with elevated blood pressure and hypertension.

Services include:

• The diagnosis and management of hydronephrosis, hematuria, proteinuria, hypertension, kidney stones, kidney abnormalities, kidney cysts, glomerulonephritis, and urinary tract infections.
• Treating children who are at risk for medical complications from chronic kidney disease, such as anemia, bone disease, high blood pressure and poor growth
• Preparing children for dialysis and kidney transplant, when necessary
