At Arkansas Children’s Heart Institute, we benefit from having access to the talent, innovations and best practices of Arkansas Children’s. By combining their resources with ours, we constantly raise the bar in all areas of care.
Our 3D Heart Model Printing Center has fundamentally changed the way we work. It houses several 3D printers and design tools that generate colorful and tangible replicas of our patients’ hearts that surgeons can hold in their hands. By visualizing the heart defect before surgery begins, patients often spend less time in the OR and less time recovering from major heart surgery.
The Fontan procedure is an open-heart surgery generally performed on babies to treat single ventricle physiology patients.
The HLA Tissue Typing Laboratory supports Arkansas’ clinical solid organ transplantation programs. These services include identifying specific tissue antigens, including HLA-A, B, C, DR, DQ, lymphocytotoxicity cross matches and determining the presence and specificity of circulating anti-HLA antibodies.
Learn MoreThe Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) was one of the first dedicated ICUs in the region to provide care to neonates, children and adolescents with congenital or acquired heart disease. Our 30-bed CVICU offers specialized inpatient care to more than 600 patients annually.
Learn MoreThe Electrophysiology Program offers specialized care for children who may have heart rhythm problems, such as arrhythmias, or children with pacemakers or other implantable devices.
Fetal conditions, including cardiac arrhythmias, fetal hydrops, abnormal karyotype and other abnormalities, may warrant a fetal echocardiogram test at Arkansas Children's.
The cardiology clinic at Arkansas Children's helps diagnose unknown pediatric heart conditions with: holter monitoring, transtelephonic ECG recording, 2- and 3-dimensional echocardiography and exercise stress testing.
