Dr. Williams’ research is focused on understanding the underlying pathophysiology of sepsis associated pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (SA-PARDS). SA-PARDS is characterized by life threatening lung dysfunction that is caused by a severe infection (sepsis). Despite decades of research, therapies remain supportive with no targeted therapies currently available. The aim of his research is to better understand why some patients with sepsis develop SA-PARDS while others do not and to develop targeted therapies to improve outcomes in those patients with SA-PARDS.

The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views or Arkansas Children's.
