Pediatrics CertifiedDala Zakaria, MD

Dala Zakaria, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in Pediatric Cardiology for the University of Arkansas For Medical Sciences (UAMS) at Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH). She graduated from the University of Damascus School of Medicine. She completed two pediatric residency programs at the Children's Hospital of Damascus University in Damascus, Syria and Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia. Upon completion of residency, Dr. Zakaria went on to complete her pediatric cardiology fellowship at ACH. 
 
In 2013, Dr. Zakaria joined UAMS and Arkansas Children's Hospital staff, where her primary clinical interest is advanced imaging, including 3D echocardiogram, transesophageal echocardiography, and fetal echocardiography. Her focus is on the management of single ventricle patients, and she currently serves as the director of the Interstage Single Ventricle Clinic. This clinic offers comprehensive care and structured resources to support single ventricle patients' parents during the interstage period. 
 
Dr. Zakaria and specialists from the fields of Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Pulmonary, Gastroenterology, and Psychology worked together to establish the Multidisciplinary Fontan Clinic in 2020. This is the only such program in the state to provide comprehensive specialized care to Fontan patients. She is the principal local investigator for the National Pediatric Cardiology Quality Improvement Collaborative (NPC-QIC). Her research interests include imaging in children, and she has published multiple papers. 
 
Dr. Zakaria is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatric Cardiology. She is an affiliate of the American Academy of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiogram, and the Fetal Heart Society.
